I found an old crate and it looked like a coffin. I thought for a good idea was to paint the logo on it and put it at the end of the driveway and when people walk by and actor jumps up. Also I want opinions on how it looks. Thanks

I really like that coffin. Is it going to sit down low on the ground like it is in the pic? If so, how are you going to make sure no one sees the actor?O'Shawn McClendon

It is awfully low, even for the littlest kids. Maybe sit it on a few cinder blocks and then drape some black cloth or plastic over the blocks? The black drape would help the coffin setting a lot too.
One of the scares we did in the past was to have the coffin sitting up high with a drape around the bottom and a bad dummy inside. People would look at the dumy and comment how lame, and then the real actor would lunge out from under the coffin through a slit cut in the drape. That's one of those good distraction scares.Last edited by shawnc; 08-13-2009, 08:27 PM.

I love the idea of an actor hiding in the haunt's main sign. I can't do it though because the haunt is too large but, a garage haunt should do just fine with that scare.Mike Cirrincione

Yeah maybe you are right with the elevation a little, Gotta make it so you gotta peer over a little, It just seems so perfect. I have so much weeds and leaves in there that all you need to do is kind of put the twigs over the actor and he blends in like a rotting corpse. I will be sure to put a video of it up when the time comes of how effective it will be. And yes I didn't know they made stuff like this out of real wood anymore myself! I was at my uncles and back in their field where they have bonfires lied this crate. I asked my cousin what he was gonna do with this and he said "Use it for fire wood" I told him I had to take this. It was a good find indeed. I just added some leaves and other organic stuff to bake in the sun, Stapled some burlap hanging off the sides and wrote the logo in a kind of sloppy or grisly font to give it that chilling "edge". I quite proud of what I did with thisLast edited by The Forsaken Crypt; 08-13-2009, 09:41 PM.
