Outside of trying to recover from being very sick (still sick in fact) I had like one of the worst days of my life. Can't explain but it was horrible. Now I will admit I'm depressed about this 40 thing very very depressed!
One of the things that helps me get through the "age blues," is to think about how life has been to this point.
Most of our first 40 years is spent under the control of others: our parents; schools; age of "minority." While those things were supposedly there to help us, most of the time they just held us back from taking control of our own lives and getting things done.
Then there was the after-20 era: having babies; establishing careers in jobs most of us don't like.
Forty years is a long time, ya know?
But now you're past the "hard part." And you have the time and control to get things accomplished - granted, with the help of, like, fiber pills, LOL, but it's still a long, long time to have a shitload of fun.
As a note to those who are over 40 and single: from what my aunt (who worked in a nursing home) told me, the dating scene never ends.
So even romance doesn't die!
Larry, to get through it, you simply *have* to think of all the positive things. I promise, it helps.
With haunting love,
Sarah
