I'm getting ready to head back over to the hospital. The surgery was postponed until today. A time hasn't been set yet, but I'm going to get to the hospital early so I can hang with Mom and keep her company. The doctors decided they wanted to bring in another specialist. They are going to go in through the ribs, deflate one of my Mom's lungs, cut and remove one of the nodules on her lungs while stapling the lung and then re-inflate the lung. My Mom just had a stint installed in one of her heart arteries 3 weeks ago because the artery was 80% blocked. Now the doctors are worried about blood loss and the possibility of her having a stroke or heart attack during today's procedure; however, they feel strongly that this surgery can't wait. They will run lab tests on the removed nodule and they expect to be able to determine what it is that's attacking her lungs within 72 hours at the outside. My poor Mom is so weak, frail and nervous. It kills me to see her have to go through this. Thanks for keeping her in your thoughts and prayers!

Wow, what a sad thread this is - but a thought provoking one, as well.
I lost my mom in 2003 when I was 34. She was 64 and left us far too early. It was devastating for our family and nothing will ever be the same in my life (especially the holidays). Still, I take comfort in knowing that I had a wonderful mother who was also a great friend. In the end, we are all only here a short while and we must be grateful for the time we had together.
Good luck, Kelly. My thoughts and wishes are with you and your family.

The thoughts, positive energy and prayers have worked a miracle! Just got home from the hospital. Although the procedure was very hard on my Mom, the great news is that the nodules on here lungs are definitely NOT cancer!!! Her lungs are being attacked by a fungus, but the doctor says this is treatable and he suspects that the damage will be mostly reversible! I'm going to be meeting with the doctor again tomorrow when he has more time to explain, but I'm so grateful that my Mom does not have to battle cancer again! I have something so fantastic to be grateful for this Thanksgiving I should be able to bring Mom home from the hospital Thursday or Friday. Depending on how she's feeling, I may have her come stay at our house for a day or two while she heals from the surgery, but then she should be well on her way to recovery and improved breathing!Life is good and my Haunt Family is AWESOME! I really do appreciate all your thoughts, postive energy and prayers!!!
