Nope, didn't work for me either. Had to go the website http://blogs.kansascity.com from google, once on the page typed in man-who-dressed and article came up.

Title reads Man who dressed as "Grinch" and "Beetlejuice" accused of molestation, child porn Friday, January 04, 2008

Hope that helps you locate the article

I just copied and pasted the text into my address bar; works for me.

This article is quite troubling. Dr. Pain's has an actor in Beetlejuice attire. He's a well known character of the haunt; to those who work there and those who walk throught it. But before anyone asks, "Is that the same guy?" I wish to say no, they're not the same person.

I hope this news doesn't cause problems for our actor.

Boy, that KC haunt is really taking a hit with negative publicity this year. That sucks.

On the same note, we run a Registered Sex Offender search on all our new crew members and have never had anything come up. But even taking this guy in the article, and doing the same search, nothing comes up. How in the world can we protect ourselves when there isn't anything out there?

So Larry, What are all of us supposed to be actually doing? Check all employees on the registered sex offender list ? Ban make up? Have all areas very well-lit and videoed?
It is amazing that he has such a long "career" being such a criminal.
I know of a case many years ago in which the child welfare people did nothing in a case in which the child accurately described everything that had been done to her and very accurately described all of the drug paraphenalia the man was using.
What more she could have told them? Yet they did Nothing!
If your job was lifting 300 cement blocks a day and you only lift 250, maybe so what, you were tired, but if your job is to make a jugement call that protects a young child from an in-house molester and drug abuser and you do nothing!?
WOW!? In such a case the child welfare person becomes an accomplice.

Especially if he is in cahoots with the meat pie lady downstairs.

                      Background Checks

It might not be a bad idea to run background checks on your actors and any others who interact with the public at your haunt. It would help if you got sued by anyone saying that one of your employees did something untoward to a customer. When I worked as a Santa for Cherry Hill Photo, they ran a background check on me. No problem.

"Backround" checks could be a hazardous job if they happen to suffer from bad gas while you are back there checking.

I sadly admit we have never done background checks, but that is something we will be doing in the future.

Does anyone have tips on how to do this? Is there a company you can hire?

                              Larry

Check with your local police they charge a small free but its not as much than private companies and their data base is updated every few hours not every few weeks. Also if your like us and hire the Sherriffs Department and local police department for security they will do it for free its a perk you get when you hire them. I am shocked that people are just thinking about this we have done this for everrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
