  • "Protection" from your LLC?

Yesterday in Mount Carroll, Ill. 3 young men were working in a 500,000 bushel corn bin, today two of them are dead, one still in hospital, all local boys, ages 14 (yes14), 19, 20.
The 14 and the 19 yr. old are dead.
No safety equiptment. No safety training. Yes OSHA is here now.
The grain mill is owned as an LLC.

A tremendous tragedy for this small town.
Fire Departments from as far as 50 miles away responded as the ordeal continued because firemen were suffering from heat exhaustion and replacements were continiously needed.
Some of the Firemen ended up in the hospital from the heat.
IT began at 8:30 am and they didn't recover the last body til 10:00 pm.

Such a needless, preventable loss of young life.

Carelessness is no excuse for any life. Unfortunately it happens. It always seems to hit us harder when they are young.

Bless their families. Being an LLC can protect us but still is not excuse for carelessness. They will be held responsible at a later time.

That is terrible. I will pray for their families and friends and those in the hospital.

But as haunted house owners know, being a LLC is critical as things out of our control can happen. For example last year, someone in our haunt ran into a wall from being scared and was hurt very badly. Had they made us responsible and we were not an LLC, they could take everything away from us and our family forever even if it wasn't our fault in any way.

I suppose there are goods and bads to LLCs.

Yes but the problem with LLC or Inc is that no matter what we will still be named in the lawsuit personally if the atty is smart. Lots of headaches either way.

          Absolutely No Running Here!

It's posted numerously and preached . "Scaring Forward" might help throughput, until some falls and gets hurt, and people any age can get hurt, young or older.
