  • Bennett's Curse new logo

    Hello everyone,

Seeing all the cool threads of people posting new logos and updates I figured I'd start one of my own. One of the things I want to work on is taking more pics and video so far that hasn't been the case. We are celebrating our big 10th year anniversary this year, and we have tons of things in the works. As I get any pics I'll post them here....

I guess it all starts with the logo, so here are our logos for this year..

Yay - I love it! It's so wonderfully medieval and I love all the details, especially the spiderweb. ;-)

Thanks Val, medieval is what we do as you know, so I'm glad it came through!

Also, we are making a simple sign for our Creepywoods Haunted Forest. I have a couple in-progress pics so I'll post them here. We are in the hard coating stages now....

                        Hard Coating

                        ~ Creepywoods Haunted Forest ~

So since these letters are carved from foam...

                        * What did you choose to use as the foams hard coat ?
                        * What type of foam did you use ?

                        Just curious....
Polyurethane foam is expensive and can't be cut with a hot wire, on the other hand Styrofoam is very cheap and easy to get and it can be cut with a hot wire.
Because Styrofoam can be cut in long shapes it is great for moldings, fake beams, timbers and the like. The big disadvantage with Styrofoam has always been it's fragile nature. Props made from Styrofoam often don't even survive storage.

Ive seen products like "Styro-roc" "Poly-Armor" and etc. used to protect the foam pieces from damage. I for one am always interested in hearing what people use on THEIR foam projects...

And of course I think it might something other people on Hauntworld are interested in.

                          Thanks Kirk and Wayne!

We used standard white beaded foam.

For the hardcoat it's called Styrospray 1000, from a company out of Houston Tx. It's self leveling so you can apply it by hand or spray but it's a pain to clean the equipment but its easy to just brush it on.Take the proper safety precautions like full face gas mask, quality gloves, ventilation, etc...

                          Hope that helps.....
