If you need one to use as a hiding place you will have to reinforce the whole thing.(Maybe you guessed this?)
I once made an angle iron frame for the coffin then cut the wood to cover it and bolted the wood on. This also allowed me to weld some large hinges to the steel frame to handle all the quick slamming open & closing.
I made the coffin door a two-piecer with a jagged lightning like seam down the center of the door (Grind down the points with the flap disc)
This top to bottom seam between the door halves gave a good line of sight from top to bottom before swinging the doors open so you didn't clobber anyone, even if they were a very short child, who normally you would not see through one high peek hole or small window.
