  • Buying 120 Mini Spot Lights

    Hello,

Before I buy them new, I'm wondering if anyone has a lot of mini spot lights to sell that are used or cheaper than what I would pay for them new. I need assorted colors.

    Email me.

Darklight lights are great but they are WAY overpriced. He gets them out of china for probably a few dollars each and sells them for $40-$60+ each... He's found a good thing I guess and having easier access to Chinese manufacturers really helps him but I still think if they were half that amount he'd sell many times as many lights.

I lit my whole haunt based off allen's tutorial - came to about .83 a piece - however for the tubing, to get a bit brighter light I went to my local race shop and picked up aluminum fuel line has a great shine and reflects well. You can buy a 50 ft roll fairly cheap too. I can't thank you enough for that tutorial, worked fantastic!

Thank you for your tutorial. Even someone like myself whos no electical wiz can do this. Now, I have a question. Can you use these lights outside or do I need to cover them with seran wrap or some type of clear plastic?

                Thanks much.

I have used mine outside for 4 years now, anytime we see a light out the issue is always squirrels chewing through the cord lol.

Well, here's my 2 cents worth-

I use these and LOVE them: http://www.ebay.com/itm/10-PCS-10mm-...item5ad204450e

They come in all colors and brightnesses- and I do mean BRIGHT! Sometimes too bright, as a matter of fact! We use them to "blind" guests at certain places so they cannot see whats coming- works phenomenally.

Every single one I've put into use is still going 2+ seasons later- I have around 200 in use.

However! I do not use 12vdc to power my lighting! These LED's and their resistor together put off LOTS of heat at 12vdc! And if you do as I did and use cut lengths of 1/2" metal conduit as the "housing fixture" - the trapped heat will literally fry the LED to death! Simple solution to that is to use 5vdc instead. I can power at least 65 of these at 5vdc off a single 480 watt computer power supply.

The only real downside to using LED's in general is that the colored LED's put out very pure light in that color only. We're all used to seeing things in full or broad spectrum lighting. Try and light a bloody scene with only a blue LED and all you will see is black looking blood. You either have to incorporate a white or red, blue and green together see all colors in a set.

I sat down one day and figured out what it was costing me to make these- not much! And if I payed someone to solder and assemble them for me- still less than $4 each (including a mounting bracket).

It took some experimentation to figure out exactly which colors and which brightnesses I really needed- it turned out I didn't need that many variations.

                    There- cat's out!
How can a man die better than facing fearful odds, for the ashes of his fathers and the temple of his gods.

What you put into your mind- you put into your life.
