Ok first off wtf was transworld thinking allowing big pink frilly bags with tassels as the buyer bags. Almost everyone ditched them after taking their badges out. Could you imagine walking through the casinos with a big pink and black frilly bag. A little too much.
@@@@@@@ A note to the Vendors. Some of you guys may face some major backlash with the whole haunt pavillion. I knew going into it that it was mostly signage but most everyone else did not. The buyers were PISSED!!!! I would start kissing butt now because the buyers fully expected the companies listed in the book and on the website to be there to talk and take orders. They were furious and felt betrayed by Transworld and the vendors that were involved. You could hear the conversations as you walked the aisles. It was a pretty pathetic site to see a banner and some business cards.
As far as attendance it was beyond dead and I have been to the last six shows. Houston was a little slow but Vegas was dead. Nobody was there. The only upside to this was prices were more negotiable as we found out. I spoke to everyone we bought from and by day two everyone said the show sucked as far as sales.
I spoke to some of the big shots from Transworld as I said I would. They said they were committed to two shows for 2010 due to the leases they signed but they did say that last year too. I can safely say after this show that we can be rest assured they will recombine them next year. If they don't Transworld is screwed. If you were there you would know what I mean. St. Louis will probably draw higher sales then Vegas. I never saw more then 5 buyers on an isle and this was both days. The only vendor I met that was happy with the show was gag studios who sold their whole booth the first day. But he was forcing the issue of combining the shows back as he said his sales suffered due to the split.( GAG has a very cool new tombstone that vibrates and oozes fog).
The only good news I can relay is one that we got prices and shipping costs down. we found two new vendors that we placed orders with. It use to take one day and half to cover the showroom floor. This year we covered the show spent time making 5 purchases, talked to vendors, ate lunch and were done by two. The worst thing Transworld and the vendors could have done was that haunt pavilion.
