In case anyone is planning on attending the Las Vegas show this weekend, don't bother! My friend and I drove 8-1/2 hours and got through the entire, pathetic event in 2-1/2 hours today! Last year it took us 2 8-hour days to see the entire show. So does anyone have any other suggestions of things to do while we're in Las Vegas for the next 3 days?!?!?! (Besides wasting money sitting in a casino?)

Even though the Haunt show will be waaaaay better and more fun, it'll probably only take you about an hour to go through that show as well, since it'll be so small. Of course talking to vendors and buying things will take up time, but you'll be able to walk through and see everything in a short amount of time...Easily a one day event I'm assuming. Nevertheless, I'm excited about it!!!

I would agree it won't take long to walk through te show, it doesnt take that long to walk through a lot of shows. The point is you look around see stuff, do business, and talk to your peers.
We need the WHOLE HAUNT INDUSTRY TO COME OUT AND SHOW THESE RETAIL BAD BOYS who really supports their industry!!!!
Haunts will have more attendance than Houston and Vegas combined I'll bet...

I second this.
Of all of these, KA is the #1 show you have to see, and spend the extra little bit to sit close- it's way better than sitting towards the back.
Blue Man Group is an awesome show. Even if you dont know their music, you will have fun.
Also, I know Carrot Top has been at the Luxor for years, and if he's still there, it's a good show for not too much.
There are so many things to do in Vegas without walking into a casino.
Enjoy yourself while you're there.

I do NOT agree... the show will be packed with people bringing check books. Every haunt that I have talked to did fantastic last year. Haunts are looking forward to this show.
I think the Transworld Haunt Show will go down like this...
It will be very much like Hauntcon or MHC with seminars, haunt tours, a lot of getting together talking, drinking and whatever else however what you'll see here is 1,000 times more money being spent on product.
What you won't see at Transworld Haunt Show is all the fun things, events planned by show organizers as you would see at Hauntcon or MHC.
Two different types of show but totally the same. The show will be very very well attended. I would expect to see 1500 to 2500 people.

I think this is really where we are at...
Retail Halloween shows are going to fade no matter what happens... to many shows now more than just Houston and Vegas. There is only a handfull of real buyers now and the major vendors go to the buyers and set up private showings. Same thing has gone on in the amusement industry as well to some degree and many others.
Until all of this shakes out who knows what is going to happen but based on everything i have been told buy major retail vendors...they tell me two shows in 2010 no way.
One is going down. I'm sure Rubies will play a major factor in what happens.
Our industry needs to go our own way and leave behind all those chaos. We need to worry about ourselves, what we need and what we want and stop caring what they think or what all of thier problems are.
We are the haunt industry, they are the screwed up retail industry.
Let them fight, let us flourish!

Of course you don't agree, you have a vested monetary interest in the St. Louis show. But honestly now, how will this show be any different than the previous TW shows where most of the haunt "buyers" were haunt actors, construction people and other members of the crew who had no say in what was bought, but would still take up time and space in the booth. So, take the rosy glasses off and put the pom-poms away. We all know you're just trying to sell more tickets to The Darkness.

If you want to be very negative that is your right I guess. This has nothing to do with selling tickets to a haunt tour and never was. We have lowered cost for vendors to vend by $700.00 per booth. We as an industry have taken this show out of this mess known as HALLOWEEN RETAIL SHOW(S). The whole industry has promoted this show and that is what is important.
Your assessment that I'm being a cheerleader to sell tickets is absurd. I'm being a cheerleader for a show that will help an entire industry.
Lastly you are dead wrong about a bunch of lookers and very few buyers...once the reports come back after the show I'm sure you'll hear a much different report than we're hearing from Vegas and Houston.
You'll see...
The point of any tradeshow is for everyone to benefit be it as a buyer to find new products to help your business or as a vendor to make money sell and marketing new products and services. If its Transworld it is to make money from producing the show.
Everyone has to benefit otherwise no one benefits and then what is the point. As for my haunt tour all I can say is this... my aim my goal is to inspire an industry to push themselves to another level. Last year the vegas haunts got blasted for all sorts of reasons. Other haunts open for tours and simply open their doors which is okay but that is not what I'm doing.
Lastly, when Leonard does Hauntcon he does it to make a profit. MHC must make a profit, the haunts that open are opening and charging for it. When everyones haunt opens in September they will charge to enter...nothing is free. We are all doing this as professionals to make a living and that is not to be blasted be it Transworld as a show producer or any haunt who would open their doors from Dreamreapers in Chicago years or my haunt in St. Louis.
I agree with many others in 3 weeks we'll find out... let the comments pro and con fly then. As for why the topic was started its that the Vegas show is a bomb.

This is my predictiction and my not Hanfradomous! Lol! I predict the Halloween show will move from Vegas to St. Louis after the success of the Haunt and attractions show in St. Louis. With a spectacular show with more vendors than ever and more sells than ever the entire show will move to St. Louis Missouri. Becoming the most popular trade show on earth again. Forget Chicago its gonna be in St. Louis! I've got faith in this show with the Darkness tour and the Columbia Haunt tour and Creative Visions tour. And our own tour of The Haunted Lemp Mansion this weekend is gonna be phenomenal!!! Please read further posts on the upcoming paranormal ghost hunters tour at Lemp Mansion.
