    Mr. Windum

    Wrote a column for a newspaper in the Quad-cities. He could be compared to what Edgar Allan Poe wrote for newspaers, stories supposed to be "True" of him reporting what it was like to be on the moon, since he was actually there and experiencing it first hand!
    Not alot has changed over the years has it?
    They have to write something everyday whether it is true or not or just kinda true, sometimes, then there is always tomorrow's retraction if someone complains.
    My cousin lost a really good job because of a false arrest that made headlines in the local paper, the retraction was buried on page 8.
    I guess the paper didn't want to look bad, or rather that bad.
    The really funny act is when a newspaper person does everything possible to keep their name and their scandal out of the paper........in a small town we know everything.

      That would make me sick if I lost my job just so someone could keep theirs.

          Being as a "normal" clown in the circus before i become the "scary" clown on halloween i have quiet a reptoire of clowning skills that make me (not to toot my own horn) a memorable character. I have used everything from Jump Stilts, to normal stilts, to giraffe uni cycles, to normal uni cycles. But becareful while using stilts. I was walking on loose chipped wood which is usually no problem because iv been doing it for so long. When one big guy kicked at the foot of the stilt so it slipped and dug into the floor. I broke my ankle. I couldnt recover because it dug into the ground at a wicked angle. But yeah anything that people dont normally see makes an impression, eg stilts. uni cycles, and jump stilts.

            At our Haunted Hospital, our most talked about scene was the Ambulance scene.

            Guests approached the ambulance from the back side and had to crawl up into the ambulance.

            We had a really small actor inside the back that looked fake.

            For those of you that saw the Twilight zone the movie, the front seat actor turns around and says, "you want to see something really scary" and blast "Midnight Special" by CCR on the radio. Then the actor in the back pulls a rope that slams the back door shut and at the same time starts running going nutso inside the ambulance.

            Two outside actors get the ambulance rocking a little as this is going on. Then the outside actor opens the side door and lets the people out.

            The guest then walk around the front of the ambulance which is motion sensored with flashing lights and a huge air horn and at the same time the second outside actor who was rocking the ambulance positioned them self behind the guest in relation to the hood of the ambulance, so as they set off the lights, the actor gets them from behind.

              Our second most talked about scene was Dr. Buzzsaw's Major Surgery Room.

              One Actor on the surgery table where they sit under it with just head and arms in sight, fake torso with guts spilling out which they handle with their arms. Really sick looking. This guy has huge tubes filled with blood going in and out of him. His legs are hangin nearby draining all the blood into a tub.

              Then Dr. Buzzsaw revs up the circular saw and flies at the patient and lays that saw into his gut. The patient also has one of those knuckle squeeze squirt guns filled with water and as Dr. is grinding into his gut, patient is squirting the guest with blood (water).

                    @Boni:
                    Wow. That sounds like a great scare. It amazes me that you picked so many scares into one room.

                    @Dr. Giggles:
                    How long did it take you to get used to stilts? I would like to get at least one character that people will talk about, and I think--if I can manage to learn to-or find someone who can already-walk on stilts, that would be just the right thing.
                    Thanks for the words of caution though.

                    @Mindtumor:
                    I would love to have a scare actor that tall. I could think of so many awesome things he could do just by being a few inches taller than other people.

                    @JamBam:
                    Thanks for the free offer. When I get my license, I am seriously going to tour the haunts across the US (or at least the ones whose owners use HW).

                    @Jim:
                    You cease to amaze me. Even in your serious posts, you manage to slip in a joke.
                    I wouldn't expect you to give me a free tour. Your haunt sounds so creative and awesome. I really want to see it.

                      come on Warfield

                      Come on Jim,

                      Make the kid an offer. If he brings at least four or five people with him, you will let him in free.

                      Now TCHAUNT, you need to make a sign that says, "Jim will show you a great time for $ 15.oo" and stand on the main highway corner of Mt Carroll, Illinois waving it wildly like they do in L.A.

                        Like I'm really going to stand anywhere outdoors today. XD I ended up having serious allergy problems on the best day of the year. Yesterday was my sister's Sweet 16 (yes, I know. I did envy her very much when I saw that her Sweet 16 was on Friday the 13th). We had been planning a massive surprise party for her. Well, I got severely sick yesterday, so my mom told one kid to tell another kid to tell other kids that the party was canceled because I was sick. Well, all day long, everyone kept coming up to my sister saying "I hope Jonny fells better!". After hearing that all day long, she realized that she hadn't told anyone. Well, she asked one of her really close friends how she knew, and the friend let it slip that we had been planning a surprise party. Well, I went to the doctor, and like I figured, it was just allergies...just a really severe case. Well, we still had about 11 or 12 kids come over, but Jess knew.
                        I nearly broke my finger playing Egyptian Rat Screw ( a card game we play in marching band all the time). But I had a really good time. I think I may have enjoyed it more than Jess (my sister) did.

                          Big Bang

                          Our big bang last year was something that we put together the night of the haunt. We had a lame ending this because we couldn't think of anything else to put there and people knew when it was over. The haunt was over but there was still a decent length dark hallway to get to the real exit. We noticed that people really let there guard done in this final hallway leading to the exit.
                          So after about an hour I grabbed one of my scarers and said "We got another job for you". I stationed him in that final hallway and people thought the whole thing was over and they relaxed and my scarer got them big time. We had our best scare of the night without any planning or any cost. All we had to do was react to the guests.

                            I can easily see how the actor in the last hallway got the scare. I'm just wondering, did he stay in the hallway somewhere or was he by the exit? Was he in a black-out suit?

                              hallway scare

                              My scarer moved around in the hallway, so it wouldn't be the same. He actually had another job in the beginning of the haunt and once he was done there he went to the dark hallway. And yes he was in all black.

                                Okay. That makes sense. What did he do to scare? Did he whisper in the guests ear, slightly touch them, yell, etc.?
                                (Sorry if all the questions are getting annoying)
