  • New Website... Take a look give me some feedback.

Here is a screen shot of my new website. I think it's done, but this only the front page as you might imagine. Tell me what you think. As you can see this website will do a great number of things like surveys, and much more.

Is anyone working on their new websites? Any additions you are adding that you didn't have last year?

My only suggestion Larry is to simplify.

Is there any way to reduce all the material on the first page and allow visitors to enjoy visiting the various links? The first pages have become so choked with material it both drags down my bandwidth and proves a little overwhelming.

Other than that, it's a big difference from this site ten years ago when I first started visiting. It's like watching my little cousin go off the college!

        My opinion...

I think it looks great. I hate to be nagative because I know alot of work probably went into it. But I think there is a little bit to much information. When I go to a website and see to much info, it throws me off, or I get lost. Then I will just exit. I don't know what you could do to change this, maybe more drop down options? Just my opinion. But otherwise it looks great!Kyle

          Constructive criticism

Too much stuff for a splash page. Have less clutter, more focus on the primary message. Don't try to put EVERYTHING on the first page. Let people explore the whole site and discover the hidden treasures.

It's way too over crowded and is starting to look just like Hauntworld. If everyone of your sites looks like Hauntworld people won't appreciate Hauntworld as much. It needs to be simplified and just have dates, times, admission, pics, coupon, contact etc. When people are looking for information on your haunt they want to be able to locate it right away without being confused. The header is great, but the site needs to be less complex. This isn't another haunt mega site, it's for Scare Fest.

Seriously WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY to much stuff to the point its confusing! Sometimes plainer is better because it gets right right to the point. I am afraid here you have to look for the point. Its almost like a treasure hunt and no one knows what direction to go in. I can tell alot of work went into it I am just afraid its way over the top and not in a positive way. Just clean it up and show what people are going to see.Shane

I like the logo, but I agree that it is a bit overwhelming. I think removing some of the content would make everything pop more.

                      Couple of things...

First off here is the page where you get the info so as you can see everything else goes away. Secondly, it does look busy especially when you are looking at something VERY SMALL!

If you saved the image on your computer then opened up the file, they kept making it bigger until it fit your monitor then come back and say all those things.

Try that first then tell me your impressions.

Lastly, my goal is to keep them on my site all year around, to increase the time spent on my site so that they view the videos, look at the photos.

Also you must remember that all that stuff on the bottom is letting my guests know of the latest photos, changes to the site, etc.

The whole site would be controlled by a back end which I have complete controll over. Take a look at this page and try what I was telling you then tell me what you think.

I do see what you are saying about too much but again you have to see it full screen!

I like it now, much better! Still a little tweaking but I think it's on the right path. Maybe some more organizing in the bottom scroll boxes... I agree with whoever, I can't remember, said that you need to let your sites visitors work themselves through the site to find content! -Tyler

Even full screen it's just too much -- not as much as the Haunt World main page, and more friendly in its linear layout, but I'm a bigger fan of simplifying.

I know that getting friendly suggestions at this point is a bit of a wash, seeing the site is built and you like it as is. As a web designer and former PR/Advertising guy I can offer this bit of personal experience: those sites that are user friendly and encourage visitors to explore tend to get far higher traffic than those with tons of flash and dazzle in the front.

You have a GREAT product Larry -- and I think a little simplifying here and there can only help you along. Good luck!

No I appreciate everyones comments, that is why I asked. I don't disagree with any comments I've heard, but I do think you have to blow it up full screen to undertand it better.

There is a lot of stuff going on but, my angle is my customers, trying to keep them on the site, and give them the info they want.

I will keep all these comments in mind when I finalize it and or make the Darkness and Creepyworld pages.

This is my first post on HauntWorld but I would like to say that I really like your website layout. I can see where others have said its too busy, and I might agree with them but overall I think it looks awesome. Maybe try it like that for a little while and then try it with a simplified version.

                              Thanks loving the Forum.
