It's probably part of their automated effort to censor political content they don't agree with for the election, but Facebook accepted... then rejected without notifying us, our haunted house ad. They claimed it was violating their advertising content policy which is "Ads must not contain shocking, sensational, inflammatory, or excessively violent content." But as you will see, our ad had none of that. In fact, it was probably the tamest ad we've run in over 20 years! Worse yet, by not notifying us, we had no "plan B" and our attendance was way down because we didn't know our ads weren't running. I asked for a review of their rejection (hoping to get more details to avoid a repeat rejection) but that was a week ago and they never responded. They are making a TON off of their political advertising, and they may be cutting anyone else who they even suspect may cause problems.
Our ad was a photo of a guy in a straight jacket, with a caption that read, "Sane is BORING!" No blood, no gore, no violence.
And the text read: "The Terror is OPEN tonight from 8 to 10pm, but we're instituting multiple protocols to prevent COVID, like mouth masks for everyone and social distancing. Also, we're cutting available tickets to keep the line short, so we won't be able to serve half of our regular customers this year (or offer the usual discounts.) We beg your understanding and cooperation-- we fully expect to take a loss this season but keeping it safe requires sacrifice by all. To reserve space, order on-line at our website (it cost more at the door, and space may not be available). Come early in the season or order on-line for you best chance at space. We're also offering a virtual haunted experience for those who can't attend on Kickstarter (just search "Monsters & Maniacs"). Either way, have a happy Halloween!"
Like I said, not very sensational or shocking at all. So watch out this season. Your social media may be VERY "iffy".
