Evidently, through an exhuastive advertising and marketing campaign, all they could come up with is " Fucked up Stuff." I also love vendors that tell you nothing about who they are, where they are, our what garage they are working out of.
Listen to them, Children of the night. Oh what music they make.

Either a good name or a bad name it has its purpose....to stick in your head and make you go OH. I bet thats what they were thinking when they named the company that. Remember that negative stuff sticks in your head far longer then the good stuff
Jesus loves you, but everyone else thinks you're an asshole.

I have NO clue why someone would name their business like that... like someone said the media attention I guess.

I would like to talk to this guy and ask him this very question for the next magazine. Personally I think it makes MHC look bad...

MHC put restrictions on Scareparts (cash and carry) only... I applaud them for that, because even if they're wrong in putting on thore restrictions, clearly they are only looking out for their buyers!!! I really can't believe someone would do that but that makes you feel you can trust MHC for sure. Kudos...even though again I think Scareparts is fine and will take orders and deliver them this year.

But to have a vendor like that on your rosters...hmmmm.

Several years back a vendor came to Transworld and had all these latex breasts, penis parts and other nude bloody body parts, and they made them remove everything or they would kick them out of the show. Additionally they had another vendor remove videos with racial sensitive materials on them.

I personally wouldn't like a vendor like that from my website or let them display at my show unless they had a different name and a different URL. Its just a total classless name and gives an outstanding group like MHC something I'm sure many will scratch their heads over when they see this booth and the name on the booth.

          Just my two cents!

            Someting in a name

I can see where there might be some problems with the name for some people, but you have to admit we are a group that stands on the fringe already...I mean how many of your "normal" friends enjoy a well displayed murder scene? The name made me copy the link to take a quick look at as soon as I finish typing up this post. Depending on the age restrictions of the show floor I do not see this as a problem, I mean almost every booth has a half naked mutilated female body...mmmm I do love this industry *cough* sorry got side tracked for a moment. That's the crazy thing about obscenity it is truely a personal thing.

On another note I look forward to making this show as I had to miss transworld and did not get my haunt con fix for the year...really starting to get the shakes this thing needs to hurry up. I mean what's a doctor to do when his drug of choice is half naked mutilated female bodies and the guys won't let you in the haunt.

Although the name is politically incorrect, I have to say that the doctor just brought up something that kinda blows my mind....
He made the statement about our group being on the fringe .
I cannot tell you how many times I have been repremanded by fellow haunters because of something I have created CROSSING THE LINE.... who drew this line? I can understand JOEPUBLIC saying that a Autopsied baby may be distasteful and that the fetus flinger is just wrong, but having a group of my peers judge me for being over the line..... surprises me beyond belief.

                Anti-Smoking Ads

Speaking of marketing principles... Anyone see the anti-smoking ads where this smartass guy goes around doing stupid things in an attempt to thwart the tobacco companies? Their campaign is called "whudafxup". Not quite as blatant as "Fuck'd up Stuff", but i was still floored that they were allowed to take a phrase that would TOTALLY not be allowed on TV and change spelling, abbreviate, and all of a sudden it's okay.

As far as the vendor setting up at MHC, it's not like MHC is a department store who made the decision to sell the "Fuck'd up Stuff" line of clothing. It's a tradeshow. Their job is to bring in vendors who have nice things to sell, regardless of what the business is called. I don't think it makes MHC look bad at all. If they have good stuff, I'd buy from them. They got balls, that's for sure. AND! If they don't sell a lot of horror props, they could probably sell that domain name for a few pennies! Credit where due.

                    Not a great name

I agree with Larry and Barry on this one. I know that certain people go for shock value but I think they are shooting themselves in the foot with a name like that. If you know anything at all about marketing you would not use a name like that no matter what business you are into.

I have kids as well and there is no way in the world a catalog with that name would be in my house...nooo way.

I want an autopsied baby, I have such a sweet idea for its use in my lab, I did a baby in a jar and got more than one or two "that is just two much" comments. I am of the mind if it makes you uneasy I did my job. Of course it's a fine line I have to walk to do what I imagine and still keep it in the PG13 range for our haunt. We have caught flack before from the local churches just because we are a haunt, and sometime I have to be reigned in by the other guys or I would have us doing human sacrafice but all and all I usually find away to get my demented way.

                          Saw them at EHC

I visited their booth at EHC last weekend. Actually a decent bunch ofr guys. Although I had similar reactions to yours it didn't really bother me until I saw young teens wearing their shirts. Says "Got maggots?" on the front which is pretty cool but the F'd up logo\name is on the back. They do make an attempt at making some of the letters not so easy to read so you really have to get up close to know what it says. They did have nice products and my kids weren't with me so It was okay with me. Then again I bought a Kim's Krypt t-shirt (right next store to f'd up stuff at EHC) for my 4 year old. To each his own. I'd buy their products but wouldn't allow their name to be anywhere my customers could pick up on it.

In case you didn't hear... Scareparts has announced they will NO LONGER display at MHC. I don't blame them either. For one they have to be cash and carry only, which again I understand MHC is thinking about the buyers, based on all these attacks on message boards.

And secondly because of all the slamming going on against them. I think some of it might have been warranted but overall I think every professional line has been crossed here.

You must remember Scareparts did in fact deliver 85% or so of all orders... he took to many orders and couldn't fill them. Yes, indeed he let you down, he took your money, and didn't deliver, he got in over his head. Does that mean we should say 'float down the river' and just endless tirades about a guy? From my understanding he's already settled EVERYTHING but maybe a couple situations and he's working on fixing them ALL!

This has gone way to far if you ask me.

I think some vendors might look at some of the postings and choose not to sell to those people. I've already talked to vendors who said they will refuse to sell Shane anything. Whether that is right or wrong is beside the point. I do think and so no one slams me here... YOU SHOULD GET YOUR PRODUCT or your money back 110%.

I think there is an avenue to do that when you have a problem... heck if they advertise in my magazine TELL ME! I'll get on their case...

I doubt ANY VENDOR would ever want to go through this nightmare!

In the future lets try other ways to resolve these issues!

I will say that frustration can get the best of you, and you can't take them to task and post on message boards. But it should be a last resort, try all other avenues to work these things out.

FOR YEARS I HAVE been getting emails from people telling me about their problems with a vendor... I've passed EVERY email onto those vendors, EVERY SINGLE ONE!

You subscribe to my magazine, they advertise in our magazine, I will help you if I can, as long as we don't see another mess like this.

The last thing we want is to not have Scareparts or any vendor bring new product to shows, and be part of the haunted community!

Scareparts has apologized and tried to fix their problems.

Lets give him a chance to make his word good! In the meantime, lets talk about our haunts and stop focusing on all the negative stuff.

I'm sorry to hear Scareparts won't be attending MHC, but there is always next year!
