While inventorying rooms and boxes of stuff, I have come to realize that I need to replace a lot of my lighting this year. Most of the fixtures I can get at Lowe's and MinionsWeb has some cool LED stuff I am ordering. But I need a good source for black lights, especially some four footers for my vortex tunnels. Does anyone know of any brand or source in particular that stands out?

You need 4' replacements or you want to put something else in place of the 4 footers?
Best price I have seen is Lowes, HD, and walmart for local - about $11 a bulb
I can probably secure you cases of BLB 4's, no idea what unit cost would be.
Bulb wise, my preference is the Philips BLB to the Sylvania, but both do a very good job on output.
I can check with my old supplier (from aquatics business days) to see what they offer as well.
If it is fixtures, I recall a 4' stick fixture from one supplier, at a very reasonable price.
Let me know if you would like me to explore that too.GoryCorey

Leds
Balls up and get some blacklight LEDS. Bling bling. They'll last longer, won't break nearly as easily, cover much more area, and cost ten times as much. How can you beat that?
American DJ makes a product called LED Shadow. You can even fade the thing, how killer is that.

What is a good course for blacklights you can control, say pulse or strobe?

Chauvet makes a UV LED panel that you can strobe - http://www.chauvetlighting.com/fixtu...beuv_fix.shtml . It usually runs about $180.
UV LEDs are good but not as good as a fluorescent. There is a lot more visible light and less UV as they are higher in the spectrum.
If you want the best (more expensive) option look at the strobing fixtures available at http://www.gepproductions.com/access...ck_lights.html or http://www.wildfirefx.com/product_list1.aspx?CID=2 . These are very nice units.

We sell these at Pale Eye (www.paleeye.com)
It is a 13 watt compact fluorescent black light. This is equivalent of a 60 watt light bulb. You will be amazed by the output from this tiny light. They are pretty sweet and we use them in our 3-D Scair Chambers, they put out great light!
