Thanks, always fascinated with them, specially living an hour away from disneyland. Got one robot in my living room I plan to restore for the haunt (7 valve gunslinger)

The Robot with no skin you see is from the now defunct "Alien Encounter" at Disney World Magic Kingdom. I used to get by the rail to get close to the mechanics. This was one of the best and scariest attractions they ever did. Sorry its gone!
Listen to them, Children of the night. Oh what music they make.

Going to Disney is so inspiring! Everything from building techniques, design, animations, theming and crowd control they have it all figured out!

Alien Encounter was excellent! I was just talking about that again with one my crew the other day. Last year in our haunt we did the same kind of split level action they used in Alien Encounter, and it worked out great.

For some REALLY great reading on audio animatronics, check out a magazine called Persistance of Vision with their giant issue about the world's fair. It goes into MAJOr detail about the Disney audio animnatronic systems used at the fair. It gives fair more detail than that special. For example, the special gave no information on the use of IRIG or the programming methods used for the fair shows....
