This year i am looking at incorporating a slider in the parking lot/ Q line area. Anybody know where i can get the costume for it and maybe some tips on how not to slide and good ways to slide without hurting your actors?

Contact Joel Talacko from www.slidergearonline.com. He has decent training and safety videos and sells slider packages. I had him make a pair of sparking gloves for me a couple years ago. Love them...

I buy Pro-Tec pads from the rollerblading aisle at the local box sporting goods store.

      Sliding advice-
Anybody know where i can get the costume for it?-
Costume dosent matter to much, keep the costume form fitting so it does not get caught under the pads. Think of sliding as an addition to a character as opposed to what the character is all about. Clowns, Scarecrows, zombies- them and many other types of characters are great for sliding.

and maybe some tips on how not to slide and good ways to slide without hurting your actors?
Be careful not to spread your legs during the slide, that can wear the straps and sides of the pads- that is bad. practice stopping, judging distance, and bailing. Dont get caught up in gimmicks or length of slide- you are sliding to get a scare, not to slide for sliding's sake. We slide to move differently than normal people and to get "in their face" faster than normal and at a different angle.
There are some good youtube videos of sliders, but very few tutorials. I have done one tutorial on making slider gloves, I am doing another one very soon on recapping your pads, and I may do a few more sliding centric videos in the future.
