  • From Our Mailbag...

    Dear Freaks,

While driving through Kansas a few days ago, we got passed by a small
white pick-up truck ... I'm sure you know which one we mean. I must say,
that was the best advertising I have ever seen for anything. Ever. After
the initial surprise--"What the hell was that?!"--we made it a point to
remember the web site, to look it up and find out why a truck of
people-pieces was driving down the road. (Um, yes, we did realize it was
fake ... though we were wondering how many people didn't, and called the
cops on you.) The bad news is, we live in Pennsylvania, and we're not
quite ready to drive back THAT far to visit you. But if you still exist
when (if) we ever go out there again, we'll be stopping by. Again, best
advertising gimmick ever. Hands down. (Severed hands, that is.)

    Sincerely,

    L.R.

    Dear L. R.,

Could you please tell us which way he was heading when you spotted him?

You see, it seems we have allowed one of our family members to "get out"
recently and, well, he hasn't quite found his way home yet. We tend to worry
when he takes the cutlery AND the truck at the same time...

He's harmless (mostly) except for his penchant to collect "momentos" from
travelers along the highways and byways of Kansas. Beyond that he's really
charming and lovable, and so we'd REALLY like to get him back in his cell..
    err... our loving arms soon.

Could you please check out back of your place- say around midnight, for him?
In the dark areas? Particularly if you managed to make eye contact with him
that day- that seems to really fascinate him.

Fair-thee-well, and mind the roads in central Kansas!

    Regards,

    Dr. Von Monschture

Ahh, warms the cockles of my black heart...

Yeah, I really like that idea too! I've been trying to think of alternative advertising ideas like this(radio and tv costs an arm and a leg... sorry for the pun) but nothing we've come up with touches that. Awesome.

Thanks. It turned out to be a REALLY valuable marketing tool. I really miss-judged just how popular and cost effective it would end up being- lots-o-comments.

Of course it really helped that it is a daily-driver for one of the minions... and... that he's so hard core about it that he wants to keep it that way year 'round, God bless his warped little mind!

For added realism, try storing a dead dear or other rotting animal under the prop. If they get a whiff of that while the truck passes, it will really kick it up a notch!
