  • New Darkness and Trailer Haunted House Photos

    Hey Guys and Ghouls,

I've started a whole new folder for my photos... Called Darkness 2007/Trailer Haunted House.

Right now we're rebuilding our trailer haunted house into a MAJOR haunted house complete with a major haunted facade.

We just started to redo the inside of the trailer haunted house. We're installing the facade as well.. I uploaded several pictures of the facade to get your feedback.

The facade is NOT done, it will ultimatly cover the ENTIRE front of the truck trailers, include rott iron fence, fiberglass props, and much more.

I will keep you updated of the progress.

Also was wondering why no one has been uploading their own photos lately... I like looking at them!!!!

Start uploading your own photos folks.

    Take care.

Not wanting to copy anybody, I decided I will have a hay maze and a corn ride. I can't imagine what the other residents in the trailer court will think of that facade, or maybe it's not going to be set up in a trailer court?
Trailers, trailers hahaha! I make zee joke!!
Very nice facade!! Lots of fun!
Technical question: Would regular store-bought corn oil be a good enough lubricant for my Corn ride? I want to avoid anyone getting a rash from the friction or the leaves. "YYEEE-HAW!"

Looks great so far, Larry. The roof curvature and the windows are reminiscent of the Bates house. Very cool.

Nice facade I like the roof as well. Also the right hand side would look awesome with one of Scarefactorys spinning ghost towers. Looking forward to coming to Fear Fest this year Larry. I didnt make it there last year. Sounds like its gonna be pretty cool.

? about the deck. By looking at the pics it looks as if the trailer is butted up against it. Im asking this because Im not sure if the trailer will be put on the deck without the wheels ect. Or if its gonna be like in the picture shown and adding sides to the deck and butting it next to the trailer? I would like to maybe do a trailer haunt and I still have things to learn. Also I was told in Missouri your not allowed to have a trailer haunt on its wheels??? Is there any truth to this? They were trying to tell me the trailer itself has to be on the ground? I wondered if there was any truth to this. Note this info didnt come from the best source. Any help on this I would greatly appreciate.

Kinda answering my own question here. By looking closer at the other photos I guess you did build or butt this facade and deck next to the trailer. I guess you did this to obtain the 3 dimensional look instead of just the flat sides you would have been stuck with with just using the trailer. Very cool! But I still would like to know an answer about leaving the trailers on there wheels. It looks if yours are and just have skirting around them. Thanks again for any info.

Larry it's all lookin good so far.

I wish I could upload some pics from Raycliff Manor over the weekend, but I left my camera behind, so it will be about 2 weeks before I can get those up.

Around here if a trailer has it's wheels under it it is taxed differently (less) than if the wheels and axles are removed.
Property tax, as in house you live in.

Keep checking back... our facade is much further along than before.

You'll see the pictures later today.

Larry you make me sick! ::Sarcasm::

Nice roofs and turret! You dont see sloped roofs anymore on even new houses! Cost is triple for the materials need to acheive this effect. Knowledge on how to do this is few and far between as well, took me years to learn to frame this way, luckily i had a grandpa that built nearly every victorian in Northern Wisconsin, many phone calls, lots of grunts!

Tell you builders the Stair builder from Illinois is impressed! But can they build it out of Oak and Brazilian Cherry? LOL

By sometime next week the whole entire front facade will be done complete with wrought iron fence, railings on the ramps, vac form on the roof (we're doing a really cool vac form roof/shingle), and we should have it based coated.

Hopefully you'll like it... we're going all out on this.

We're also adding real doors on those entrance and exit. The doors will also lock at night and lock open during the season.

We've been redoing the ENTIRE inside... I think when we're done it will be one of the best trailer haunts around.

I must admit I did see one of Rich Strelaks trailer haunts and it would be very difficult to make one that good... he's got a lot of years invested. I was very impressed and inspired by what he was able to accomplish.

My goal is to make a MINI Darkness.

My SiloX location has been NOTHING short of terrible in terms of detail for years because its temporary. Even our trailer haunt sucked... I wanted to change all of that this year. When you have a trailer haunt its sorta like having a permanent show right?

Well thats how I see it so we said lets make it permanent and put a real facade on it, redo the inside ONE TIME, but do it RIGHT!

Thats what we're trying to do.

I would encourage any temporary attraction to look into a trailer haunt only because its temporary but still permanent at the same time.
