  • A few transowrld questions

First of all I cannot tell you how excited I am to be going. I got apporved to attend yesterday!!! Flight is booked, now I am working on hotel.

My First question is what is the differance between the Renaissance Grand and the Renniassance Suites across the street? I know the suites is the 'offical' hotel, but the other one is right there. Are they different owners?

Second question I am looking at the Crowne Plaza, it's a biy off the path, but more affordable, how are taxis in St Louis? Any one know?

One last hotel question, how about the Holiday Inn? Is it okay? I mean I am only going to be there at night to sxleep, it seems close enough to the show...

I am really looking forward to meeting as many of you as I can. I want to shake some hands of company owners that donated to us this past year too.

Thanks for any help or suggestions. THe last time I went to Transworld wa back in Chicago in 07 I think.

I can get a room at the Plaza for 85 a night. the Ren grand has nothing left at the TW rate, so looks like I am going to either be at the Resident inn downtown west or at the Plaza. (maybe holiday inn)

        Ed,
Make sure you factor cab fair/ time into the hotel cost. Often a hotel room which is $20 cheaper a night ends up costing me more because, the cab ride is around $10 each way (I tip). I also have to wake up 20 min or so earlier and possibly wait ten min to get a cab.
The ren grand is a nice hotel and If I buy something at the show (remember its cash and carry) then I can walk it over to the room.
I can also keep snacks and drinks in my room anad not have to pay to eat on the show floor which is expensive. Little things add up.

Ed, Allen is 100% correct...but then again when isn't he offering up great gems of advice?!

...last year cab fare ate me ALIVE! thank god they took credit cards...hahaha -- not only did I cab in from the airport, but from the red roof across town to the convention center and back daily made it pretty costly. Thank god Brad was staying there too and I caught a ride with him often. I learned my lesson this year and I'm staying at the Ren right across the street. I realized A LOT of haunters stayed there last year and that is where all the fun goes down. Best of luck!

            Ed,

Not sure if the same deal is still going on, but if you can't afford the Renn, the Roberts Mayfair Wyndam is literally a few steps away (behind the Renn) and were offering some pretty good deals. We got a 2 queen suite for somewhere in the neighborhood of $89 a night. You just had to book 3 or more nights at once and got something like 30% off. So if its just you you might get in a tad cheaper.

That is where we stayed last year and liked it, but if you want to do anything outside of convention and close proximity cabs can really ad up. We are considering a rental car this year for that reason. I got lucky and had someone drive me to the Darkness and a couple other events last year (Thanks again Brad (Umby)!), but still spent a lot on going to places like Pappy's etc...If you fly and dont take the subway its about a $30 cab ride to downtown. Most of my cab rides averaged around $10 a piece last year.

            Hope the info helps!
