Haunt preference?

I am just curious do you guys out there like multiple smaller haunts or 2 mega haunts in your attraction?

Please clarify mega haunts are we talking 20,000sq ft plus? and Smaller haunts Im assuming around 3500 to 5000 sq ft each ? how many smaller haunts? 5-8 attractions really adds up . I goind with multi mini haunts

Sorry 20,000 sq ft is the 2 Mega haunts and 3,500 sq ft for about 5 to 6 haunts is the other

Mini Haunt capable of max income.
..Or maybe just sell them a ticket then scare everyone away at the front door...keep the money.
I hope others see mine as a medium haunt with maximum mental stimulation= return business.

Yea know this one is a thinker... I can't vote!!! If I really had to choose though I think I would go to the two mega haunts because its more adventures if you know what I mean. An I choose Erebus and Edge of Hell. These haunts are, OMG!!! I should have peed before I came in here.

Interesting there is a 50/50 tie between the two. Personally I think that 2 large houses make the attraction seem larger than it really is.

How about 2 main larger haunts slightly smaller than mega and the 2 or 3 small side haunts ? Thats what I would do

You'll certainly pay more in the multiple mini haunts, coz it's like pizza by the slice. It's cheaper to buy the whole pizza in one swoop. Scare wise, the bigger ones have a big advantage, in that they don't give the patron a chance to decompress betweens scares. That's assuming you have not only the same combined size as the smaller haunts, but also the same number of staff, animatronics, or scares in general. 40 minutes of continuous scares in one haunt is certainly more claustrophobic than four separate stints in four different ten minute haunts. I've seen this first hand. We considered breaking ours up into two different 20 minute haunts, but although it's more profitable, you can see the tension mount on the customer as they explore further and further into the haunt. If you give them a "breather", they would still be frightened, but it would reduce the effect. So we've resisted the temptation.

Read the customer's mind:"We have been going through this haunt for more than 10 minutes...we have been in here now for more than 15 minutes.....we have been in here now for at least 25 minutes! Wow! When will it end?
I feel it does become more impressive as it goes on (all things being somewhat equal-level of intrest, stimulation, odditties.
Many of my patrons drive quite awhile to get here and a ten-minute haunted experience waiting for them at the end of their journey would not be popular nor sought after after that first time.
I feel I Really Have to give them something worth driving for!

I've been to parks that had one giant haunt and parks that had 10+ mini-haunts. I think it depends on the quality of the haunt. Is it better to have a 35 minute haunt with poor working animatronics and bad acting, or a 10 minute haunt where everyone and everything is working perfectly and 'on'?

I do agree that the smaller, multiple haunts give a greater range of options for everyone. I visited several multi-haunts where some of the attractions were family friendly and some were not. I personally think haunts that appeal to as many demographics as possible will be the most successful in the long haul. The latest RFR features Spookyranch which has multiple haunts ranging from a funhouse with no scary actors for the young children, to an 'extreme' haunt that children can't enter...

I think, i'f its at one location it is only one Haunt...There is a haunt close to here that charges per room, they have 4 rooms and are charging per room what i charge for my haunt. mine 30 to 40 minutes and theres I have been told by many is only about 3 minutes to go through all 4... Thats not fare to the customers at all.

Those theory's do make sense about the variety but I would have to agree, some people travel far and wide to see an attraction and if it were me I would want to go through 2 large 30 minute haunts than lets say 5 small ones that are less than 10 minutes each. Also the idea of the patron getting a "breather" in small haunts is a great thing to consider. You want to give all you got to the customer, get them in the mood and not end it. Right as soon as I get extremely impressed by a small haunt its already over and its a bit of a buzz kill.
