    Rachel and others,

I guess we just have a difference of opinion. Running a successful business in my 20's, graduation college with honors, driving a nice car, I got all that too. I don't believe in politically correct BS and sugar coating things to pacify people. If it's wrong, guess what, it's wrong. I hear from some people who say things like "Oh I don't do drugs, all I do is smoke weed from time to time". Are people really that lame that they don't think it's wrong, illegal, and pathetic?

When I feel I need to feel better about myself, I step up exercises, lift weights, run miles a day, and play competitive sports and most of all improve my diet. This makes me feel good, and no one out there would so much as question these methods as unsavory.

Rachel, I'm really glad you feel good about yourself by whatever means, really. If you feel that pole dancing is a healthy means of offering you what you need to be balanced that's your world, not mine.

Maverick005, you have to be joking when you say that pole dancing is as tough as playing football. Pole dancing is hard for non athletes, just as running would be. When you are a pro athlete conditioned well, pole dancing would not offer much. There's no running, no jumping and cardio stress. Spinning on a pole and hanging upside down would be about the extent of anything strenuous.

In any case, I am probably in the minority with my opinions on here, or most places for that matter. If you're happy and not hurting anyone, keep doing what you're doing!

    Peace,
    Allan

Words like "Wrong" and "Immoral" are so subjective. Some would say running a haunt is "wrong" or "immoral" and we feel different. This is what's wrong with society - these blanket generalizations and the feeling that we are "above" others simply because we have chosen different paths in life.

I may pole dance but I have enough compassion and respect for others that I would never get on a forum and call someone immoral and unsuccessful for one hobby that person may have. Besides, getting on a soap box in a forum isn't so hard after all. You don't have to "face" the ones you are insulting.

I'm going on record as saying that pole dancing is an extreme form of exercising. Seriously, the gym I got to has told me they don't have a piece of equipment to replicate what I do. If you think you can climb up a 14 foot pole - invert - and then let go with both hands and one leg then I want to see it! Not carido - no jumping? You obviously haven't tried it. I've lost 30 lbs and 3 dress sizes doing it.

Tony - I have always thought about filming a dance video incorporating my love for Halloween/darkside of life. I'm filming two videos in early March - but I barely have time to finish those out much less add another one this go round. Maybe the spring session.

Jeff - anything for you baby!

And to those of you who have emailed me, private messaged me, or called me today to say you support me and what I do - thank you. So many of you all are great and I appreciate it.

          Two words Chiro Practor.

A portion of the proceeds from my charity haunted house benefit retired strippers with bad backs. They need chiropractors, smoke lots of cigarettes and make emergency phone calls for more gum. Please support our cause.

Another fabulous post from the U.S.Department of Wild Imaginings, now in spectaclar stereo, sponsored by the Adhesives and Sealants Council, suggesting ways to stick things together since the 1800s. Not fabulous in a gay way. Your results may vary. Illinois residents add 8% sales tax. Rachel,

For the record I went back through my responses and found no statement regarding you as unsuccessful. Like I said in the PM, I respect you for being and running a haunt as I do all haunters, but I don't particularly have much respect for your hobby. Let's agree to disagree! I also thank those that responded to me with support and your opinions!

You pretty much implied I wasn't successful or moral. You told me to strive to be more like Oprah Winfrey and Martha Stewart who made it to the top by their ambitions. (By the way, Oprah has featured pole dancing on her show  ).

At any rate, I am going to go get a drink (I'm sorry, is drinking bad too?) and sling around the pole for a bit. I hope no one ever attacks your character because of your "hobby."

If you are interested I would recommend you take the three minutes to watch this video:

                http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=msy7TtyAVIc

This isn't me (wish it was!) and I think what this woman can do with a pole is equivalent to gymnastics and ballet - she's beautiful.

At any rate, thanks to everyone who has added me regardless of my pole dancing "Vice" - it's great to make new haunting friends.

We now return to our regularly scheduled programming....

I do a pole dance for almost every tour that I put through my house. None of the customers get to see it though since it happens in a very small , dark space, I slide around the pole and I'm suddenly on the first floor!?
I began on the second floor.
Then I am ahead of the tour, waiting to scare them again.

Wow, this thread took an unexpected turn very quickly. A couple of points I would like to make:

                        1. I think any haunt actor pulls from a variety of sources to make themselves better. For Ron it is magic, for Rachel it is dancing. Whatever it is, if it makes you better then go for it.

                        2. Allen, I too used to lump all exotic dancers into the the same category as you have. Rachel has taught me that this is not the case. The Tango can be very "exotic" and suggestive but it is used in dance competitions. Heck, if we go back far enough we were told to keep a certain distance between ourselves at a school dance so we weren't being to suggestive.

                        3. There is a moral line with everything, it is simply a matter of where you choose to place it. If there is one thing that my relatively short time in the haunt industry has taught me, it is to not make moral judgements to quickly. I have met some people who look/act/dress in ways that I would never consider myself, but I found these people to be absolutely wonderful human beings with viewpoints and morals similar to my own. For those that differ too much, I respect them for being in our industry and wish them well. That is all I can do.

Either way, this thread has been a good read and very thought provoking. Personally, I think we need more converstations like these.

                        Barry

                          LOL!

I forgot that Jim pole dances in his haunt! Jim! That's terrible - corrupting your patrons like that! I can just see you flipping upside down on the pole and spinning down it....weeee!

Well said Barry. I hope that folks can find something tactful from all the mess. The problem though with such threads is that sometimes people come off a little differently than they usually are. Ragardless of this I think it's important for anyone to voice their opinions and thoughts. I have an opinion on the subject matter and expressed it, but the last thing I want to do is hurt someone's feelings and I hope through our PM's this is understood.
